Kathi Casey Pilates honors Joseph Pilates' program as he originally designed it - using intrinsic muscles, differentiating deep muscles with slow, purposeful movements - instead of momentum. The Kathi Casey Pilates Advanced Pilates DVD advances the concept of Pilates to users wishing to increase their knowledge and benefit from Pilates. The traditional Pilates 100's is done as a combination of the 100's, Roll up and Teaser all in one - working lateral, lower and upper abs, legs and buttocks at the same time! Leg Pull Front is done for several breaths with repetitive rocking on the toes. Leg Pull Back which is done from reverse plank is another challenging exercise added to this series. Full Mermaid is done with a twist at the waist and goes from right to left arms without stopping. Shoulder Bridge is done with leg lifts - keeping the knees together. A tough core body strengthener. Flight is added for strengthening the spine. The buttocks can be tightened for relief of tension in the lower back if necessary on this exercise. The Pilates Push-ups is a flowing series which is done on this DVD with several of the actual push-ups. As always, breathing is a very important pat of the program and is stressed on this DVD.
