It’s easier than you might think to keep your immune system ready for the fall cold and flu season! Here are a few tips to help you stay “fit as a fiddle”, as my Gram used to say:

  • Epsom salt baths have a marvelous detoxing effect. I love the bags of lavender scented Epsom salt that are available at Right Aid. Use an entire one pound bag in your bath and soak for twenty minutes.
  • Both sugar and dairy can increase mucous, so cut back on these to stem the flow!
  • Antioxidants are your best armor against the flu – add a few extra blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, artichokes and sprinkle them with cinnamon or cloves!
  • I take 1000 mg of vitamin C every morning and another every evening to boost my immune system. And if you start to feel a cold coming on, increase that to 4 times a day.
  • Drink plenty of water and drink all day long not just in the evening.
  • Garlic is good for you – eat some every day!
  • Keep moisture in the air with a humidifier or vaporizer.
