I’m always on the lookout for new studies or evidence that will help us keep healthy and vital all of our days on this planet. New research has come out suggesting that our weight loss efforts may work better if we eat our regular three squares and a couple of healthy snacks during the day, but nothing after dinner. 12 – 14 hours of fasting each day could help us lose that last few stubborn pounds. The researchers said: Our findings suggest that regular eating times and fasting for a significant number of hours a day might be beneficial to our health.”

As far back as the 1960’s researchers noted that people could become leaner by doing one water-only fast every week. In fact, I have a cousin who has been doing just that since the 60’s and she is healthy as a horse! No high blood pressure, heart disease or any other physical ailment that others of her generation are battling. Her weight has also remained pretty steady since that time, so she would certainly agree with this research!

Try eating your dinner at 6 p.m. and then skip the late night snack so that you don’t eat anything until the following morning at around 9 a.m. You’ll be fasting for about 14 hours, this way, which may just give your body enough time to shift into serious fat-burning mode. Certainly, it’s worth a try!
