More reasons to love your Vitamin D

Bookmark and Share

Have you heard about the study done by State University of New York at Albany that was recently released?  Another reason to have your Vitamin D levels taken and to make sure you're getting your 20 minutes a day of sunshine has emerged.  In the study, a potent form of Vitamin D was injected in Breast Cancer cells and the results were the same as when the cells are injected with Tamoxifen - but Vitamin D has no side effects.  How cool is that?  Doctors are saying much more study is needed, however they admit, the results are encouraging. I'm thrilled that once again a natural treatment has been shown to be as powerful as the toxic chemicals that many Americans are putting into their bodies to "kill" cancer cells.

You may remember from a previous post that "cabbage is famous for a specialized, naturally-occurring nitrogenous compound known as indoles. Research indicates that indoles can lower the risk of various forms of cancer, including breast cancer.  Chopping and chewing releases the enzyme (myrosinase) that helps form the indoles.  Let’s shred! This humble vegetable also boosts our immune system’s ability to produce more antibodies. It also provides high levels of iron and sulphur; minerals that work as cleansing agents for the digestive system. " (From the Cancer Schmancer web site)

Mom was right, cabbage is good for us!  Shred that cole slaw and get plenty of sunshine!

Best of Health,

Kathi
